about the authority
The Rivers State Housing and Property Development Authority is the State Government Authority established by the Laws of Rivers State No. 14 of 1985. From inception, the Housing Authority has focused on its core mandate of increasing the availability in the State of dwelling-houses, office and industrial buildings for acquisition by or letting to members of the public, including its responsibility to manage and control all Rivers State Government owned housing estates and properties vested in the Authority while leaving no stone unturned to justify its establishment.
Currently, the following are under its management and control:
* Presidential Housing Estate,
* Rumuibekwe Housing Estate,
* Rumuobiakani Housing Estate,
* Elekahia Housing Estate,
* Abuloma Housing Estate,
* Ndoki Waterfront,
* Aggrey Waterfront,
* Marine Base * Waterfront, and
* Iriebe Housing Estate.
our Responsibilities
Some of the functions executed by the Authority include the following and more:
- The management of such Government houses, estates and other properties as may be vested in the Authority by the state Government
- Increase the availability in the state of dwelling houses, offices and industrial buildings for acquisition by or letting to members of the public.
- To undertake the development, construction and management of housing estate and industrial estate
- To construct and maintain dwelling-houses, offices and industrial buildings and such other buildings as necessary and desirable;
- To enter into and carry out agreements for the planning, development, construction, maintenance or supervision by the Authority of housing estates, industrial estates, dwelling houses or other buildings etc.

The enabling Edict provides for a Board of Directors to serve as the governing body with responsibilities for policy making, control and management of the Authority. The Current Board of Directors comprise of:

THE MANAGEMENT TEAM
The Law also provide for a management team to be headed by A General Manager / Chief Executive Officer who is charged with the daily business and organization of the Authority as well as control of all employees of the Authority.
The office of the Secretary to the Authority is also provided for by the Law. His duty is to co- ordinate the business of the Board in addition to other functions as may be delegated to him by the General Manager.
The extant law is mindful of the need for internal control and checks in the system provided for the internal Auditor.
